Star Trek (Where Was I?)

This just might be one of a very few movies that we should all take time off & let our minds free to roam (literally). It’s pretty much given that ideas formulate & our imaginations thrive when we think of “Star Trek"… “& By Golly, I think it’s time to be enlightened!!! The deafening stress of our current economy & talks of government intervention is killing me”. I think people have forgotten what made America:

The Imagination of Our People !!!

I do not believe a Universal Healthcare System is a feasible solution but I also believe that some people are happy doing Yard Work.  I’d even bet that some of you have even thought “WoW,  I think I’d enjoy that job while watching a young person cutting grass”. For me,  the ability to better our lives is important & so how do we as “Americans” make the choice for a simple life possible? I don’t have the answer but our advocates should be posing these questions to themselves… I pose another question for those who believe in the opposite side of the political spectrum saying “Government does best with what it does least” as these are the folk that cry the most when the road conditions aren't so well…

Take this into consideration: The individual cutting grass & the person being affected by delayed freight are on two different ends of the pay scale…

What does this mean to America: We were taught to believe in teamwork yet we have CEO’s and other executive decision makers who do not make sacrifices for the team. The end result is telling our children that everything we stand for is only important when it’s a game…

My Father: Dad taught me if your business is selling cars and you can’t afford one something is wrong… It’s true, I could look to a new job but this isn’t a single business this is an entire economy & my father, a simple Baker was able to own 17 houses by the time my siblings and I were teens. Whats so different NOW?

I guess this is where the “Star Trek” part came to mind this evening.  I guess a bit of history is lingering in my mind about going to the moon & the perception that we can do anything “JFK” brought to our people. “Star Trek” has a history of looking at the future we can build together as my favorite series “M*A*S*H” looked at the the survival of a team (Not I but Us) during very unfavorable conditions.

The Movie

I’ve been watching “Star Trek” since I was a kid and recently discovered that the show wasn’t an immediate hit and actually was almost lost due to interests at the time. Later, “Star Trek” was actually re-discovered by children watching after school reruns. Ah, our future was brightened by a bunch of teens…

Another recent story regarding the movie stated that it was originally slated for Release on Christmas Day 2008 but was moved due to an executive preview & no competition in May of 2009. Other authors are writing that the gross potential for the movie is much higher with the change. Could this possibly be an attempt at re-aligning the movie for a possible Academy Award? May has been a critical month for movie makers in the past & many of the greatest movies of all time have been released in the early summer months:

Examples (My Pick):

1.) Star Wars (May 1977)                         2.) Greece (Jun 1978)

3.) Aliens (May 1979)                              4.) The Blues Brothers (Jun 1980)

5.) Raiders of the Lost Ark (Jun 1981)   6.) E.T. (Jun 1982)

7.) Trading Places (Jun1983)                  8.) Ghost Busters (Jun 1984)

Sign Off

Well,  to be honest this wasn’t supposed to be such a long post & my intention was a couple lines and a trailer. I believe that by writing I’m growing my social skills and ultimately the chance to learn more about myself and others.
