    10-09-07 RTS News

Well, so now you've played ETQW and realized it sucks.  Perhaps you've finished BioShock and still want a good puter game to hit.

     Good news for you then...

Company of Heroes just released COH: Opposing Fronts and it is without a doubt awesome.  It adds the British and Panzer Elite armies and the game itself is stand alone so you won't need to purchase the original COH, yet the newest version does let you play the original also.  Interestingly enough, each is based around certain strategies.  Where the Panzer Elite allow you to build a suitable army straight out the gate for a Blitzkrieg it unfortunately does not help during a prolonged war.  As for the British the developers Relic really got the role right.  The British get all the early detection via Radar Triangulation towers (you build yourself, but...you can drop in SOE/SAS commandos to build them).  They come in gliders, and their base can literally pack up and drive to a new location.

Speculation: Well now that two new armies have been added, they will probably add more in the future.  My personal favorites would be these....

Poland - With poland you can build horse infantry, stick infantry, instead of a hand grenade upgrade, you can now upgrade your infantry to throw rocks.

Russia - Allows you to build 6 infantry for the cost of 1, however, only 1 will have a rifle.  Officers will have the ability to shoot their own men in the back....to keep up morale.

French - Infantry will have the ability to build a defensive wall that can easily be circumnavigated, and with choosing any command discipline your given the ability to surrender.

Anywho that is the COH News.  Command and Conquer 3, yeah even I have already uninstalled this game.  With tactics like build as many tanks as you can then charge the enemy make it tedious.  But if your one of the lucky 8 people that still play then you have a new expansion heading your way.  That's about all I want and need to know.  Enjoy.

Finally for those looking into a battle only RTS, you might want to try World in Conflict, a large multiplayer like RTS game.  You can join and leave the server in the middle of games and once in there is no building of a base, merely put down your drop zone and call in your army.  The battle starts as soon as the match starts.

That's all the RTS news I have right now....
